Ferit Aslan, Ahmet Ün / Diyarbakır, July 29 () - In southeastern province of Diyarbakır, representatives of NGOs in the region shared their concerns, regarding the attacks, deaths and operations amid conflicts with Kurdish militants engulfing the east of Turkey and the tense chain of events after the deadly Suruç attack.

The NGO representatives urged that the statements coming from President Erdoğan, Prime Minister and Qandil of Iraqi Kurdistan unsettle them and called on the sides to put an end to these attacks.

Raci Bilici, Human Rights Association (İHD), Diyarbakır Branch Chairman

At a point this close to solution, we cannot define this sharp turn and how the process came to this point, along with wide scale operations. This is not a power test; the ones who die from both sides are all citizens of this country.

Şahismail Bedirhanoğlu, Chairman of the Federation of Southeastern Industrialists and Businessmen

During the election process, there have already been signals projecting the beginning of a civil conflict. We fear that this conflict will draw us to a larger one comprehending the whole society.

Burç Baysal, President of Diyarbakır Industrialists and Businessmen Association

Since 2002, we have been in a period where attempts to abolish the backwardness by the city officials and government-led projects were bearing fruit. Thus, the political power should say stop to deaths, by stepping in.

Tahir Elçi, Diyarbakır Bar President

The closure of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) or the impunity of deputies would result with history repeating itself, a trauma that we have experienced with the Democracy Party (DEP) where deputies that had been elected by will of the people had been detained by the head and ears in front of the parliament. Regarding statements of President Erdoğan, at the very time the opportunity to lay down arms was this close, it is not understandable muff this.
