Ferit Aslan / Diyarbakır, July 16 () - A senior leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Cemil Bayık, defended that jailed leader of PKK Abdullah Öcalan is the side who have introduced the ceasefire 2.5 years ago and without creating the necessary conditions for his freedom and free negotiation talks, a ceasefire or peace process could not be declared.
At his article published on Kurdish Azadiya Welat newspaper Bayık, the co-chair of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), has asserted that Turkey have never respected the rules of ceasefire, and have showed its real intentions from the beginning by expediting the foundation of 'kalekols' (fortified gendarmerie stations).
“The AKP (Justice and Development Party) government has never taken a serious step for this issue in this atmosphere. Abdullah Öcalan is the one who has assured the ceasefire 2.5 years ago. If heavy isolation conditions on Öcalan exist, if the conditions for Öcalan as chief negotiator are not secured, then a ceasefire cannot be spoken of” said Bayık.
Bayık has also urged that if the recent government or the government to be formed do not step up for the Kurdish problem and for negotiating with Öcalan, then nothing would be changed.
“A new war government formed against Kurdish people would not be accepted by neither Kurds, nor any freedom movement” added Bayık in his article.
