Ferit Aslan / Diyarbakır, July 19 () - Salim Müslim, co-president of the PYD (Syrian Democratic Union Party), known as branch of the outlawed PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), declared that the weapons air launched by the US-led coalition forces during clashes with the ISIL in Syria’s Kurdish dominated Kobane town (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) had been funded by the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan).
“I assume that no one has this information but the weapons of coalition aircrafts launched into air over Kobane on October 20, 2014 belonged to the PUK and the PUK had paid for them” said Müslim, on a live interview for the Europe-based Med-Nuçe TV, on July 19.
“The PUK has helped us, it still supplies us weapons. If you will insist on linking us to the PKK, it shows that you have other intentions. The entire world knows this: YPG is a military force. And its political will is not affiliated to the PYD. Everyone should see this fact. For this reason, it is not right to attribute every single thing to the PYD and to terrorize it” urged Muslim.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared that he saw the PYD and the outlawed PKK- named a terrorist organization by Ankara- as the same for Turkey in late 2014.
PYD leader also addressed his meeting with UN special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, stating, “We are a part of the Syrian revolution, we have never considered us detached from Syria. In this respect, Syria is included in our plans, both in terms of democratisation and the relations between states. We are a part of Syria and the region. We desire the peace and stabilization of Syria”.
