İpek Güney / Çanakkale, July 16 () – In Ayvacık district of north-western province of Çanakkale, a boat carrying illegal migrants seeking to leave the country had capsized near the Gülpınar Village, killing six people including four children.
Ten people were rescued; coast guard teams are still searching for one person that has gone missing in the tragic disaster. On a dinghy, the illegal migrants were seeking for crossing into the Greek island of Lesbos.
Having received a tip-off that people have witnessed migrants on the water, the coast guards have launched an operation saving ten illegal migrants, including two children and four women.
Bodies of six people, that could not have been saved, were sent to Bursa forensics.
The province of Çanakkale has become a center for migrants seeking to illegaly cross into Eurepean Union countries in recent years.
