Yavuz Kuşdemir / Uşak, Aug 7 () - Protests of Animal activists continue after 300 street dogs including 50 died in airless and hot trailer of a rig in park, in Turkey’s western province of Denizli. The banner hanged on a dog’s leash marked the protest, reading “Where are my friends?”

Education Personnel Union Uşak branch also supported the demonstration, along with animal lovers who have gathered in front of Uşak Municipality.

Uşak Animal Welfare Organization made a press statement, led by Head of the association Nebahat Avcu and called on the Uşak Municipality also to reveal how a large group of dogs in animal shelters have gone missing.

“Unfourtanetly 50 dogs among them have died. While the bodies of dogs killed have been taken off the truck to be buried, the remaining dogs in the vehicle, half dead, have been allowed to be carried in the same truck and by the same driver, allowed by the security forces” said Nebahat Avcu, adding that the association had strived to find and save the dogs who have survived, but both the truck and the driver had gone missing.

After an investigating in Uşak’s animal shelter, the association had also found out that a significant number of dogs had been gone lost, while the personnel rejected to give a satisfactory explanation on the situation of those dogs.

The press statement urged the municipatlity to find the rest of the dogs that are in coma and spot the offenders of this massacre. “We want these crimes to be judged in accourdance with the law no. 5199 within the draft penal code, rather than existing law of misdemeanour.”
