Canan Altıntaş / Diyarbakır, Oct 26 () - Two policemen have been killed in an operation against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakır province. Seven ISIL members were also killed in the operation.
The operation was launched against an ISIL cell house in the Huzurevler neighborhood of Diyarbakır’s Kayapınar district.
Clashes continue at the scene
Police special operations teams also joined the operation which started at around 4 a.m. on Oct. 26.
Two police officers were wounded in gunfire opened from the cell house.Both officers were transferred to a nearby private hospital, however succumbed to their wounds during treatment.
Reports indicate that the clashes still continue in the area.
Turkey has stepped up anti-terror operations against ISIL as two suicide bombers in the twin blasts in Ankara that killed 102 people, including the perpetrators, turned out to be ISIL militants.
