Mehmet İlkay Özer / İstanbul, Nov 26 () - Symbolic landmarks will be enlightened in orange color for 16 days in multiple cities across Turkey, to support the wide campaign of UN Women, the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”.
Works have been launched in Istanbul city to color in orange some touristic attraction points, within the campaign supported by around 70 countries across the globe.
Istanbul’s Bosporus bridges, the Galata Tower and the Maiden’s Tower, along with municipality buildings will be among the structures to be illuminated with orange lights.
Ankara, İzmir, Gaziantep, Çanakkale, and Eskişehir will also give support to the international activism efforts.
Istanbul is also set to host on Dec. 10 the official closing ceremony of the 16-day-long activism campaign to be introduced with an opening ceremony in New York.
