Istanbul, Oct 14 () - İş Sanat will open its 16th season on Nov. 5 with the soloists of the İş Sanat Shining Stars series at Millî Reasürans. After their impressive performances last season, violinist Hande Küden, cellist Poyraz Baltacıgil and pianist Ferhat Can Büyük will bring a fresh and dynamic breeze to the first concert of the season. The artists will be accompanied by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Sascha Goetzel.

On Nov. 17, two of the most renowned counter-tenor voices of our day will meet at İş Sanat for a splendid baroque feast. With his flowing tone and brilliant technique, Andreas Scholl is undoubtedly the first name to come to mind when a counter-tenor is referred to. Praised as “one of the most glorious counter-tenor voices in the world today” by the Independent, Iestyn Davies confirmed his status as one of the world’s rising stars of the international music scene in winning the Young Artist prize at the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards, 2010. The two counter-tenors will be accompanied by The English Concert under Artistic Director Harry Bicket.

The pioneer of contemporary dance, the Martha Graham Dance Company, will come to İş Sanat as part of their 90th anniversary tour on Nov. 20 and 21. Formed by legendary dancer and choreograph Martha Graham in 1926, the company is the oldest and deepest-rooted dance company of America today. It will perform two shows.

On Nov. 27, İş Sanat will open its jazz concert series with Abdullah Ibrahim, the doyen musician of South Africa. He elegantly blends Africa’s vocal and harmonic traditions with jazz’s rhythms and improvisations.

Recording more than 50 albums as a band leader only, the 81-year-old legend will present his 2013 album “Mukashi.”

Dresdner Kapellsolisten will meet the Grammy-awarded young virtuoso of the classical trumpet, Tine Thing Helseth, on Dec. 1. The last concert of the year will be given by Charlie Siem and the Camerata Salzburg, one of the most well-established orchestras of Europe with over 60 years of history, on Dec. 10.

And for the traditional New Year’s Concert of İş Sanat, the Johann Strauss Gala will take the stage with irrepressible showman Rainer Hersch on Jan. 5, 2016.

Among the other guests of 2016 will be Helene Grimaud, who has been described as a Renaissance woman in our time, and the Basel Chamber Orchestra on Jan. 19 as well as the Avishai Cohen Trio on Jan. 22, Kremerata Baltica and Martha Argerich on Feb. 5, the chamber orchestra of Cameristi della Scala Russian and pianist Anna Vinnitskaya on Feb. 11, Cecile McLorin Salvant on March 5, one of the most iconic figures in modern jazz, Jack DeJohnette, on April 28 and one of the most influential classical artists of today with her astonishing qualifications, Nicola Benedetti and the Scottish Ensemble, on May 5.

Doyen jazz saxophone player Charles Lloyd will mark a special duo concert with his long-term partner, pianist Jason Moran, on May 13, as the closing concert of the season.
